78th Primetime Emmy Awards Set to Celebrate Television Excellence with Mariska Hargitay Hosting

Television's biggest night arrives on September 14, 2026, as the awards ceremony is held live at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. Mariska Hargitay, star of NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, will host the event, becoming the first woman to host the Emmy Awards solo in 15 years.

The ceremony begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and airs live coast-to-coast on NBC, with the awards also streaming live and on demand on Peacock. "The Pitt" leads all programs with 25 nominations, including outstanding drama series and outstanding lead actor in a drama series for Noah Wyle, while "Hacks" follows with 24 nominations, setting a record for the most nominations for a comedy series in a single year. An impressive lineup of presenters includes Stephen Amell, Awkwafina, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma D'Arcy, Julia Garner, LL COOL J, Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, John Mulaney, Sofía Vergara, and Shailene Woodley, alongside Odessa A'zion, Linda Cardellini, Macaulay Culkin, Alan Cumming, Sally Field, Jon Hamm, David Harbour, Dan Levy, Julianna Margulies, Annie Murphy, Niecy Nash-Betts, Keke Palmer, Amy Poehler, Florence Pugh, Rachel Sennott, and Zendaya. The broadcast will feature celebrations of the milestone 30th anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with David Boreanaz and Sarah Michelle Gellar, and the 50th anniversary of Charlie's Angels with Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith. The In Memoriam segment will feature two-time Grammy Award nominated artist Noah Kahan performing "Bridge Over Troubled Water".
